There is both opportunity and need for educated, well-trained advocates in all areas of breast cancer research. If you have considered taking your research advocacy to the next level, consider applying for National Breast Cancer Coalition’s Project LEAD Institute. All BCCRF board members are Project LEAD graduates and have gone on to work along-side researchers at every level — at major hospitals, universities, and comprehensive cancer centers. They’ve peer-reviewed grants for the Department of Defense Breast Cancer Research Program, a program largely brought into being by confident, educated advocates. LEAD is an intense six days, but necessary (and for some research opportunities, it’s often required) for all serious breast cancer advocates.
The LEAD Institute provides an intensive, but accessible (regardless of prior knowledge of science) training in the science of breast cancer, brought to life by renowned research faculty from across the country. Most importantly, your learning is supported at every turn with small study groups and workshops with researchers.
This year, Project LEAD will be held in La Jolla, California, from July 14 to July 19. Applications are being accepted in a “rolling admissions” timeline, with acceptance notifications happening monthly. Please submit your application as soon as possible. The final deadline to apply is April 19 at 5pm EST. Project LEAD tuition is free to NBCC members and financial assistance for lodging and travel is available.
